October 7th & The Antisemitism Surge

9 min readUpdated Jan 20, 2026Loading...

Overview

The Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and Israel's subsequent military campaign in Gaza have been followed by a documented surge in antisemitic incidents worldwide. The Pax Judaica framework interprets this not as an unintended consequence but as a deliberate strategy: antisemitism is promoted to force Jewish emigration to Israel, fulfilling the prophecy of diaspora return.

This article examines the events, the documented antisemitism increase, the framework's interpretation, and critical analysis.

The Antisemitism Surge

The Framework's Interpretation

Professor Jiang's Claims

"Also, the last thing is anti-Semitism, okay? So you may have noticed if you're online, people don't like the Jews. And this is like out of nowhere. After October 7th, you have anti-Semitism over the internet."
"Why would people not care about the difference between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism? And you can argue it's all purposeful because remember part of the plan is to force the Jews to return to Israel. That's very important for this plan to work out."

The Alleged Strategy

According to the framework:

  • Promote Jewish prosperity in the diaspora
  • Simultaneously promote antisemitism ("the Jews control everything")
  • Create hostile environment for Jews outside Israel
  • Force Jewish emigration (aliyah) to Israel
  • Fulfill prophecy of diaspora return
  • Build Pax Judaica with Jewish population concentrated in Israel
  • The "Deliberate" Claim

"You can argue it's all purposeful... it's all part of the plan, guys."

The framework suggests antisemitism is deliberately cultivated, not organic.

    The Anti-Zionism vs. Antisemitism Question

    Definitions

    TermDefinition

AntisemitismHatred of Jews as a people/religion14
    Anti-ZionismOpposition to Zionism/Israeli state policies
Criticism of IsraelObjection to specific Israeli actions

    The Conflation Problem

    Professor Jiang notes:

"Anti-Zionism is not the same as anti-Semitism, right? Zionism is the belief that Israel is a chosen people and the promised land and all that. But Judaism as a religion, it's perfectly fine."

    How They Get Conflated

    From the pro-Israel side:15

    • Criticism of Israel called antisemitic to delegitimize it
    • IHRA definition controversially includes some Israel criticism

    From the anti-Israel side:

    • Jews blamed for Israel's actions
    • "Zionist" used as slur for any Jew
    • Conspiracy theories about Jewish control

    Both conflations are problematic.

    Critical Analysis

    What's Documented

    ClaimStatus

Antisemitic incidents increased post-October 7✓ Documented by multiple organizations6
Some conflate Jews with Israel✓ Documented14
Some conflate Israel criticism with antisemitism✓ Documented15
    October 7 attack happened✓ Documented1
Gaza campaign caused massive casualties✓ Documented4

    What's Speculative

    ClaimStatus

Antisemitism is deliberately promoted✗ No evidence of coordination
Purpose is to force aliyah✗ Speculation
    Part of "grand plan"✗ Unsubstantiated
Secret societies orchestrate it✗ No evidence

    Alternative Explanations for Antisemitism Surge

    Without conspiracy:16

  • Conflict-driven: Wars involving Israel historically correlate with antisemitism
  • Social media amplification: Algorithms promote outrage
  • Conflation by all sides: Genuine confusion between Jews and Israel
  • Pre-existing antisemitism: Activated by events
  • Protest dynamics: Extreme elements join larger movements
  • Reciprocal radicalization: Both sides escalate
  • These don't require deliberate promotion.

    The "Forced Aliyah" Claim

    Historical Precedents

Jews have emigrated to Israel due to antisemitism:17

    PeriodSourcePush Factor

    1880s-1914RussiaPogroms
    1930s-1940sEuropeNazi persecution
    1948-1970sArab countriesExpulsions, hostility
    1990sSoviet UnionEconomic collapse, nationalism
    2000s-presentFranceAntisemitic attacks

Antisemitism does drive emigration—this is documented.

    Does This Prove the Framework?

    The framework's logic:

  • Antisemitism drives aliyah
  • Aliyah is part of the "plan"
  • Therefore, antisemitism is deliberately created
  • The logical problem:18

    • That antisemitism has an effect doesn't prove it's orchestrated
    • Many phenomena have effects without being designed for those effects
    • Correlation ≠ causation

    Current Aliyah Data

    Post-October 7 emigration patterns:19

    • Some increase in inquiries from France, US
    • But also some Israelis considering leaving
    • Mixed picture, not mass exodus

    The "Gas the Jews" Question

    The Bondi Beach Reference

    Professor Jiang mentions:

"This is Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, where you have... two Islamic State supporters killed fifteen Jews celebrating a Jewish festival."

Note: This appears to be a misremembering or conflation of events. The documented Bondi Beach incident involved a mass stabbing in April 2024 (not specifically targeting Jews), and separate pro-Palestinian protests.11

    Verification Matters

This illustrates the importance of fact-checking specific claims in the framework.

    Who Benefits from Antisemitism?

    The Framework's Answer

Israel/Zionists—because it drives aliyah and justifies Israeli actions.

    Alternative Beneficiaries

    ActorPotential Benefit

    Far-right movementsScapegoating; recruitment20
    Islamist groupsIdeological validation
    Authoritarian regimesDistraction from domestic issues
Israel's criticsIf Jews conflated with Israel
    Social media platformsEngagement/outrage drives traffic

    Who Loses

    ActorLoss

    Diaspora JewsSafety, community
    IsraelInternational reputation
    PalestiniansConflation undermines their cause
    Civil societySocial cohesion

The cost-benefit analysis doesn't clearly favor any single conspiracy.

    The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy Problem

    How It Works

  • Framework predicts antisemitism will increase
  • Antisemitism increases (for various reasons)
  • Framework claims vindication
  • But: the prediction would be fulfilled regardless of cause
  • What Would Falsify the Claim?

    • If antisemitism didn't increase after major Israel-Palestine conflict?
    • But antisemitism has historically increased during such conflicts21
    • So the prediction is too easy to make

    Discussion Questions

  • How do we distinguish organic antisemitism from allegedly orchestrated antisemitism?
  • Can effects (aliyah) prove intent (deliberate antisemitism promotion)?
  • How should we evaluate claims when prediction is easy but causation is hard to prove?
  • What's the relationship between Israel's actions and diaspora Jewish safety?

This article examines the post-October 7 antisemitism surge within the Pax Judaica framework. The increase in antisemitic incidents is documented; the claim that it's deliberately orchestrated to force aliyah is speculative.
